Following migration to the United States of America from all over the world, many ethnic groups including those from Nigeria, have found it spiritually enriching to establish native church communities where they can experience liturgical worship in ways that are consistent and meaningful to their native experience of church.
The Nigerian Igbo Catholic Community (NICC) is under the Archdiocese of Baltimore, the oldest Catholic Diocese in the United States of America. The Archdiocese has been instrumental in supporting our mission and recognizing our cultural and spiritual needs. In 2005, the Archdiocese officially granted us status, allowing us to grow and serve our members more effectively.
